Since it's halloween we'll recommend you some horror anime to set the mood.

In the world of anime when someone says horror anime or horror movie, we usually get a weird suspicion that those movies or anime the that person is talking about is nothing but a horseshit. Some of us even think that a movie or TV show can never held something truly horrific that could scare them. Well in sense they are true, because there aren't much of quality horror stuffs out there. When i said much, i meant to say that, there are a few of them that might actually scare you. Don't believe my word?

Ok, check out the list. As Halloween is coming closer, you might have a fun time watching some of this horror anime shows. Though, i must warn you, everyone has a different taste and judgement. So, it might very much be possible that you would end up liking only 1 or 2 shows from this list.

But, hey! If you have enough time to read this you better give it a shot.

1. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni:

Higurashi no naku koro ni

Higurashi no naku koro ni also known as when they cry is on the top of our 10 halloween horror anime list. This anime has 2 main seasons and a few ova and movie. Well, let's just say that you are watching this show all alone in a room switching your lights off and then suddenly you hear the soundtrack called Main theme- Higurashi no naku koro ni.
Then, what would happen? Well, in my case, i was sweating like a pig. I mean, i was prepared for some crazy shit, but the soundtrack really got me for good.

And as for the story, i must say Higurashi has one of the brilliantly written and well developed story writing out there. In the first season you WILL get confused over what is going on here. But, eventually they will make everything clear as soon as you finish the first season and start the second season named Higurashi no naku koro ni kai.

2. Another

Another

Another is an anime that's so much different than most other horror anime out there.

To be honest I would like to make this the number one this the number one anime because of it's unique traits. It's not only just a horror anime that only focuses on bloodshed. It has an air of mystery surrounding the story like a cold mist. So it's definitely a great horror anime for halloween.

The story goes like this -

in 1972 Yomiyama North Middle School's class 3-3 had a very popular student named Misaki. I won't say the full name coz it will kinda ruin the surprise.

One day suddenly this Misaki kid died and after that all the students from his class started to act like Misaki is alive and doing class with them.

Even on the day of graduation the principle reserved and extra seat just for this purpose.

After 26 years a 15 year old student named Kouichi Sakakibara came to the same exact school and was admitted in the same exact class.

There he encountered a student named Misaki with a eye patch on the left eye.

He can certainly see and talk with the student but everyone else in the class seems can't! At least that's what looked like to the eyes of Kouichi and most of the viewers.

So what's the mystery behind this girl's existance?

And why should we be afraid of a simple umbrella?

What has been happening here for 26 years since 1972?

3. Shiki:

Shiki

Shiki is an anime you really want to watch if you are into horror stuff. It's adapted from the manga Shiki. The manga has a My Anime List (MAL) rating of 8.12 and a 8.7 rating in the free manga reading site Manga Park.

The manga has only 11 volumes in 42 chapters which was published from December 2007 to June 3 2011.
The anime adaptation was 22 episode and aired from July 9 2010 to December 31 2010.
The anime has a MAL rating of 7.94 end an International Movie Database (IMDB) rating of 7.8.
It's a bit surprising because these two ratings never seem to be similar.

The story goes like this -
A village is suddenly struck with an epidemic. At least that's what young doctor Toshi Ozaki thought at first. But soon he realised that something was wrong. Now to revel the nature of this disease he must abandon his humanity.
What is it that he must do in order to investigate this epidemic?

4. Ghost Hunt

Ghost hunt appears to be your typical ghost hunting agency story at first glance.

An agency with high tech equipment comes and kicks the ghosts out of anywhere that they shouldn't be.

But No!

Ghost hunt is definitely different from that. It's because it has established itself as a mixed genre of horror and detective story.

It's not like you just go around shooting lasers to the ghosts and later catching them with a ghost catching machine like Ghost Busters.

They originally try to give you legit and scientific explanations as much as possible.

You have to originally investigate the situation to understand the reason behind everything that's happening.

That's really my cup of tee or coffee in some cases!

Especially that one arch named The Bloodstained Labyrinth really made me shiver out of fear.

Something that starts lightly will make you surprised by suddenly becoming so dark and gruesome. So don't just seat here and watch this mystery horror anime this halloween.

5. Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

Although Elfen Lied is not particularly an anime about ghosts it's definitely a horror story. You'll see too much bloodshed for the necessity of the story. So if you are into this kind of things it's for you.

But if you don't like too much blood I'll still recommend it to you.

The reason because Elfen Lied has a depth in the story that many horror story lacks.

I'm especially fond of the music. The opening music will make you feel that winter has come early this year. When you dive deep into the story along with the sound track on the background you will believe winter is not coming! Winter is here!!

While you watch this anime, naturally some questions will pop to your mind.

Who is Lucy?

What's the reason for her murders?

Why is she harmless at the presence of Kouta?

Is humanity at some kind of threat?

I'll warn one thing though, the artwork of this anime is not very good.

But that's only because it's much older than the other anime in this list of halloween horror anime. But I personally think that the story intensity itself along with the music covers for the animations. If you go deep into the story you won't even notice the backdated old artwork.
